Barbora is pregnant again, and we don't know who the father is...

Barbora Krůtová, daughter of Filip Krůta and Kateřina, born Vachušková, gave birth to six children at a time when their father was usually listed. However, this was not the case here...

In 1847, at the age of 25, Barbora gave birth to a daughter named Barbora, followed three years later by a son named Jan and another two years later by a son named Josef. In all three cases, the records lack information about the father. We will never know the real reason, but we can speculate.

It is possible that the children's father was married, which would mean that he and Barbora committed adultery. In that case, it is understandable that the children's father did not want to be officially acknowledged and Barbora did not want to acknowledge him. If adultery was indeed the reason, then it is all the more interesting that it was repeated and probably even long-term. These three children without a recognized father were born to Barbora in quick succession, and it is clear from the intervals between births that Barbora did not wait long between the first and second births before becoming pregnant again. It is as if the secret relationship lasted without interruption for five or six years, from the conception of the first child to the birth of the third...

But that's not all. Six years after giving birth to her third child, she became pregnant again, and a year later for the fifth time. These children, twins Václav and Anna and her sixth child Kateřina, were again born without a father being named. A six-year break between the third and fourth births is very unusual for that time, because people usually had children as soon as the mother gave birth and was able to conceive again. Therefore, it seems that Barbora did not have a romantic relationship with anyone during this six-year period. Did the secret relationship end? Was the father's infidelity revealed and the love affair with Barbora had to end? Or did the father die? Who knows. But it is quite possible that the relationship really did end and the father of the twins and the sixth child was... a new man. And even this man did not want to officially acknowledge the children with Barbora.

And the story does not end there. Barbora's first daughter, also named Barbora, followed in her mother's footsteps. She also gave birth to at least one child without naming the father. The registry states that Barbora Jr. gave birth to a daughter, Josefa, in 1871 at the age of 23, with the father not being named... The further fate of Barbora Jr. is unknown; finding out would require further research.

Whatever the story of Barbora, daughter of Filip Krůta and Kateřina, born Vachušková, may have been, it is very likely that she repeatedly and over a long period of time, almost a decade, engaged in behavior that was not approved of by the society of the time.

Is there a woman in your family who gave birth to several children without naming their father?
